"Bite me."

mood:
thirsty
I feel the fire inside me burning feverishly once again. I desperately meet your anxious gaze, but not for long. My heart stings shamefully as I study your fragile neck. My eyes burn wildly. I clench my fists to stop them from shaking. My mouth waters. I part my lips.
And I have to look away.
"Do it," you say.
"I can't."
"Please." Your voice is barely a whisper. I can hardly contain myself. I force my eager eyes shut and rest my face in my hands.
Inhale, exhale.
Miserable, I hear your heart beating fervently in my head. I clamp my hands over my ears.
"Please," you say again, leaning toward me. Your face is no more than three inches away from mine, and I inadvertently inhale your delicious scent. Big mistake.
Now, you are mine.

"Do you think I could be frightening?"
"Oh, I know you could be frightening. Very frightening."
"Yeah?"
"Mmhmm."
"And how can you tell?"
"Your eyes. It's all in your eyes."
"In my eyes?"
"Nah, actually... behind your eyes. If it was in your eyes, you'd be frightening. But you could be frightening. Which means it's hiding. Until you're ready to let it out."
Silence. I wasn't sure what to say to that.
I watched him light a cigarette. His expression relaxed as the smoke filled his lungs. Instant relief.
"Are you frightened?"
"Nope. Never."
"Why not?"
He just smirked at me, his eyebrows raised.
"Never?"
He shook his head.
"So, if you really think I could be frightening... Doesn't that mean you think I could frighten you?"
His laugh was short, forced. "No. I think you could be frightening to just about anyone, besides me."
"Why is that?"
He leaned toward me, his cunning blue eyes penetrating my own, smiling ever so slightly.
I have this thing with eye contact. Whenever I'm communicating with someone, it's difficult for me to meet their eyes. Doing so intimidates me, for a reason I have yet to discover.
With Aiden, though, it's completely different. His eyes literally attract mine. And so I stared into his intense gaze as he spoke the very words I was thinking.
"We're soulmates."
